Block Of The Month
We're excited about our Block of the Month programs for 2015! You'll find descriptions for each BOM below and the corresponding photos are posted when available.
All Block of the Month kits are normally available by the first of each month and the cost includes finishing the quilt with setting triangles, alternate blocks, sashing, borders and binding, appropriately.
Where the Cows Come Home— 54” x 54”
This wool BOM has a collection of barns on cotton background. Mostly wool applique, the background is pieced. Purchase the book of patterns at the front end, and the ten monthly kits include cotton for background, wool and thread for applique, and sashing/borders/binding the last month. 9 months $17 a month. Begins in January.
For Block 1, the tree template on pg. 13 has not been reversed as it should have been. If you did not get a reversed copy in your kit, then draw yourself a reverse template, or draw this on the fusible side of the fusible web. If you have already fused and cut this the wrong way, you can just place it in there anyway if you like.
A Patchwork Year - 54"x 68"
This embroidery quilt designed by Kathy Schmitz of Moda Fabrics is made up of twelve seasonal blocks with piecing around each block, using her fabric collection. Borders and binding are included in the twelfth month. 12 months $15 a month. Begins in January.

Curve It Up— 68” x 86”
Twelve traditional blocks take on a new look in this fun sampler BOM made of bright and fun fabrics with lots of curves. But don’t let that scare you –we’ll show you how with the Quick Curve Ruler. You will need the pattern and ruler to get started, and each month includes everything needed to make one block, with borders and binding in month twelve. 12 months. $14 a month. Begins in January.
A Merry Christmas Garden—60” x 70”
This Gail Pan Designs BOM is for six month and includes applique, piecing and embroidery. It is so cute. Everything you need for top and binding is included in kits.
Moonlight Sonata—87” x 87” before outer border
Moonlight Sonata from Wing and a Prayer Design uses Tonga batiks especially chosen for this quilt. This quilt finishes at 103” square, but we will leave it up to you to decide if you want the outer border. A finishing kit for outer border will be available at the end. 12 months. $16 a month. Begins in March.
Swoon Quilt -- 80” x 80”
Make this fun phenomenon one block at a time. Every block is the same, with different prints each month. Two colors and background make this simple design. Choose from two different fabric styles – traditional or bright. Both are awesome. Buy the pattern up front. The last kit includes sashing, border and binding. $12 a month. 9 months. Begins in January.
A Mystery Quilt BOM!
This sounds like fun! Each month you receive pattern and fabric for part of a quilt. Many techniques are incorporated into this quilt giving you different methods to try. At the end of 12 months you can decide if you want the borders and binding to finish. This may become a new tradition at Prairie Point! $6.00 / month
The two BOMs here are already in progress but openings are still available.
Plain & Fancy - 84" x 84"
In September we began a new Block of the Month from the Petals and Matrix fabric collections of Quilting Treasures. The finished quilt size is 84"x 84" and has an optional applique kit available at the finish. (11 months, $20.00)

I Believe in Snowmen - 56"x64"
Stitch in Thyme: Lessons from my Grandmother - 37"x45"
This is a traditional wool applique placed on a background of flannel that has flannel sashing and border, then a scalloped wool border around the outside edge. Also by From My Heart to Your Hands, the blocks are 7” square. 37” X 45”. SOLD OUT, but pattern is available.

Woodland Christmas is an applique quilt designed by Anne Sutton of Bunny Hill Designs and is made with a beautiful fabric collection by Moda’s 3 Sisters. 67” X 72” SOLD OUT, but pattern is available.
